Recap – IV Edition of Peruvian Women in Geosciences (IWD 2024)

On March 8, 2024, WEG Peru formerly known as the Equality and Non-Discrimination Commission, in collaboration with IAPG Peru and IUGS-COGE, hosted the 4th edition talk “Peruvian Women in Geosciences” to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD 2024).

Aligned with the global theme “Invest in women. Accelerate progress”, the event brought together leading professionals in geosciences to reflect on the importance of gender equity and the strategic value of equal opportunities in the field.

The session featured contributions from Karen Cárdenas, Kathiuska Salazar, Yamina Silva, and Luz Tejada, with moderation by Sandra Borja. Through their insights and professional experiences, the panelists highlighted key challenges and shared perspectives on how to reduce gender gaps in geosciences.

The event created a space for dialogue at the local level, fostering collaboration and encouraging actionable solutions to promote inclusion and representation within the profession.

This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the organising committee to advancing diversity, equity, and participation in geosciences in Peru.
