Strengthening geoscience education and outreach in Peru and beyond
The Geoscience Education Committee of IAEG Perú is our national initiative to promote innovation, collaboration, and impact in geoscience education. It forms part of the global efforts of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG) to advance learning, training, and outreach that connect engineering geology with society.
Established in 2024, the Committee serves as a hub for educators, researchers, students, and professionals interested in improving how geoscience knowledge is taught, shared, and applied in Peru and the wider LAC region.
🎯 Mission and Vision The Geoscience Education Committee aims to:

Support professional development and lifelong learning for young geoscientists.

Contribute to global dialogues on sustainability, resilience, and geoscience literacy.

🤝 Key Activities and Partnerships The Peruvian Geoscience Olympiad (since 2022).

Collaboration with the IUGS–COGE Commission and other international partners. (MoU signed in 2025).

Participation in global education initiatives and international congresses (e.g., IGC 2028).
The Committee is open to all who share the goal of strengthening geoscience education and ensuring that engineering geology contributes to informed, resilient, and sustainable societies.
