From technical events to community outreach, our projects give students and professionals direct experience with Peru's geology.
A national platform for advancing engineering geology and geotechnics in Peru. The Peruvian Geotechnical Biennial is a national initiative that we organise every two years and aims to promote geotechnical knowledge, collaboration, and innovation to support sustainable development and disaster risk reduction in Peru and beyond.
The Biennial is open to students, professionals, academics, and institutions interested in geotechnical practice and education. It serves as a dynamic space for sharing cutting-edge developments, fostering collaboration between sectors, and building technical capacity in geotechnics, engineering geology, and related fields.

Held at the National University of Engineering (UNI) in Lima, the inaugural edition marked a milestone for IAEG Peru and featured national and regional speakers, training sessions, and the Latin American Symposium on Geoethics.

Will be held at the National San Marcos University in Lima.
The Peruvian Olympiad in Geosciences is a national educational initiative promoted by Dr Sandra Villacorta with the support of IAEG Peru, academic institutions, educators, and geoscience professionals. From the first edtion in 2021 the aim is training high school students and selects Peru's representatives for the International Earth Science Olympiad.
The Olympiad promotes Earth literacy, talent development, and equitable access to science education for high school students across Peru. The event is part of IAEG Peru’s commitment to education, outreach, and inclusion, the Olympiad identifies and trains top-performing students to represent Peru at international events such as the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO). It also supports teachers and schools in remote and underserved regions through tailored capacity-building activities.

The 4th Peruvian Olympiad in Geosciences is currently underway, with planned regional qualifying rounds and teacher training sessions which will be taking place throughout the country. Finalists will receive national recognition and may be selected for REPRESENTING Peru at IESO.

Annual forums running since 2021, now led by WEG Peru, bringing together the voices and experiences of women across the geosciences to foster mentorship and inclusion.
